When It All Comes Down
The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord. Job 1:21(KJV 21)
November 16, 1995 dawned as an ordinary day in Pelham, Manor New York. I strapped my toddler and six-year-old in the backseat of our car. Then I drove my husband to the train station where he would join hundreds of people like himself on the way to Grand Central Station, where he would join thousands more on their way to work in the financial district of Manhattan. Then I, like thousands of other mom’s, drove back home to take care of the ordinary. The only difference was that the ordinary turned extraordinary and life as we had known it ended.
Shortly after we returned home I began having sharp pains between my shoulder blades. I told my six-year-old, Joshua, that I was going to take a shower. I picked up my baby, Alexa, and put her in her crib for the last time. Ever.
