The true Body of Christ really is one Body. We do not experience life apart from one another, at least not in reality. Sometimes, especially in our modern culture we manufacture independence. I say it this way because God’s word says, “But now [as things really are] there are many parts [different limbs and organs], but a single body.” 1 Corinthians 12:20
Living separately is not how things really are according to scripture. We are One Body, “[spiritually transformed—united together] whether Jews or Greeks (Gentiles), slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one [Holy] Spirit [since the same Holy Spirit fills each life].” 1 Corinthians 12:13
We do not sin, suffer, or succeed in a vacuum. This is why it is so important for true discipleship to take place. This is why obedience to Christ and His Word matter. This is why sin, sanctification and maturity matter. It’s not about whether we are loved and accepted. That’s a given. In fact, a lot of it is not about us at all, as individuals, but the Body of Christ, as a whole.
Although our individual destinies and our personal purposes truly matter, there is a bigger picture. Jesus is no longer here in the body of a man. He is here, through the Holy Spirit, in His Body The Church. He is here to operate through us to bring about His will on Earth. His will now is the same as it was when He personally walked on the planet. The only difference is that now He does this through His people. “The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.” Luke 19:10 Now we have the privilege of joining Him by laying down our lives to restore in the lives of others what the enemy has stolen!
Nothing is more exciting to me than seeing people saved, set free and seeing what was stolen in their lives redeemed! This is why we rejoice with those who rejoice! Every time something truly good and redemptive happens for one it happens for all of us. If Jesus gets glory and The Kingdom is advanced then all of us benefit. If any are trapped or wounded then we all suffer together.
We have been so disconnected for so long that this almost seems like just a nice analogy and not a true spiritual reality. God is doing a new thing. He is restoring His Body to His original intent. He is waking up His sleeping Body. There are parts that we are not even aware that we have! It’s like I was when I first became paralyzed and didn’t even know my arm was attached to my body because I couldn’t feel it! That’s how utterly disconnected we have become. We can’t feel for each other and sometimes we are unaware that certain parts of our Body even exist!
We are coming into a season of awakenings. The separation of denomination, male and female, Jew and Gentile, clergy and laymen is falling off to free the entire Body to move together controlled by the Head which is Jesus. When this happens the gifts that Paul speaks of in 1 Corinthians 12 will flow. They cannot flow through a disconnected body. As the Body comes together, there will be power, salvation and restoration to a much greater degree than we have seen.
There is a false unity movement. A counterfeit to what God has ordained. Do not be deceived by this false spirit that calls inclusion of all things unity. it is a trap and it will it not not only fail to bring unity it will ensnare you to a false Christ. Stay in prayer, read His Word and connect with as much of the Body of Christ as you can as often as possible. Going to church for an hour once a week and going home doesn’t count. Having a “me, mine and ours” mentality won’t work any longer. Seek God and He will connect you to the different parts of His Body that He needs you to interact with at the moment. Stay flexible, nimble and open to God’s whispers. These are exciting times. God wants to use you in His Body to bring salvation, restoration and to expose and thwart the plans of the enemy. It’s time to wake up and step up so the plans of God go forth.
